KKS

Kolkata Kairali Samajam was born out of the desire of a group of Malayalees, who were at the forefront of the cultural activities focused on the South Indian community in the city of Kolkata, to form an apolitical, socio-cultural platform in Kolkata. It is a registered Charitable Trust and is also registered under Section 12AA of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

Vision & Objectives:

  • Preserving the rich cultural heritage of Kerala and Malayalam Language among the younger generation born and brought far away from their ancestral homes
  • Act as a bridge for cultural exchange between West Bengal and Kerala and thereby the two languages of Bengali and Malayalam languages as well
  • Work for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden in the State of West Bengal, as a mark of respect and solidarity to the State which had become a second home for a lot of South Indians.

Kolkata Kairali Samajam (KKS) formally came into being on the “Thiruvonam” Day, 7th September 2014. The inaugural ceremony was a simple one attended by the founders and friends, with the ceremonial lamp being lit by Sri. Susmesh Chandroth, a celebrated fiction writer and the first to receive the prestigious Sahitya Academy Yuva Puraskar.

In its eventful and colorful journey for the last four years, a young organization like KKS has made its indelible mark through its Cultural and Social Welfare activities through its multiple arms, like:

  • Cultural Wing
  • Literary/Publications Division
  • Ladies Wing
